Blinken called the version with the COVID-19 laboratory leak real, but not definitive

U.S. Secretary of State Anthony Blinken told India Today that the United States believes that the version with the laboratory leak of the coronavirus is very real, but not definitive.

Blinken noted that a number of studies have suggested that the coronavirus may have originated from a laboratory leak in Wuhan. In addition, another theory is that the source of the virus could have been in an animal market in Wuhan.

That said, he added, no one can establish a definitive cause.

“The possibility that COVID-19 was created in a laboratory is obvious and very real, but it is not definitive,” Blinken told RIA Novosti.

In mid-February, the U.S. House of Representatives began investigating the origin of COVID-19, requesting information from officials in U.S. President Joe Biden’s administration.
